Composer, violinist, teacher. A graduate of the Academy of Music Karol Lipiński in Wrocław in the composition class of Krystian Kiełb and in the violin class of Jarosław Pietrzak and Małgorzata Kogut-Ślanda. He completed his education, e.g. at composition courses in Rēzekne (Latvia), Apeldoorn (Netherlands), Radziejowice and Kraków (Poland). In 2016, he received a PhD in Music Arts.
Laureate of several international and national composing competitions, included International Composition Competition “GENERACE” in Ostrava, International Competition for Composers by Krzysztof Penderecki “ARBORETUM” in Radom, Silesian Rostrum of Composers Witold Szalonek in Katowice, the Grzegorz Fitelberg Composition Contest in Katowice or the Tadeusz Ochlewski Composers Competition in Kraków. He got scholarship holded of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Minister of Science and Higher Education and the Mayor of Wrocław. Laureate of the Student Nobel competition and the Young Poland Scholarship. In 2020, he was awarded the Honorary Badge of Merit for Polish Culture.
His compositional output includes about 90 autonomous pieces intended for various ensembles (instrumental, vocal, vocal-instrumental, electronic, electroacoustic compositions), which were performed at concerts and festivals in most European countries, in the USA (including Boston, Nowy York) and Australia (including Sydney Opera House) by such ensembles as NFM Wrocław Philharmonic, NOSPR, Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra, PR Chamber Orchestra “Amadeus”, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Duo van Vliet, Cracow Golden Quintet, Flow Unit, Hard Rain Soloists Ensemble, Hashtag Ensemble, Kwadrofonik, Orkest de Ereprijs, Orkiestra Muzyki Nowej, Sepia Ensemble, Sound Factory Orchestra, Nordlys Ensemble and others.
The artist also composes music for theater performances, music for games, music for therapy, and is also he is the author of audiovisual installations, arrangements of popular music and jingles. In his work he undertakes interdisciplinary activities, looking for connections between music and new technologies, medicine, marketing, business, architecture and psychology. In cooperation with STOLGRAF, he did a research and development project for innovative medical equipment: VR TierOne device (with original sounding), using virtual reality in therapy. He is also a laureate (together with PayEye Sp. Z o.o.) of the 9th edition of the “MOZART” Program, organized by the Wrocław Academic Center.
Adam Porębski’s compositions were also included in international and national performance competitions as obligatory pieces, they were also recorded on CDs (e.g. for Orchid Classics, DUX or Requiem Records), published (e.g. by PWM, Wydawnictwo AM in Wrocław, Wydawnictwo AM w Poznaniu) and broadcasted by Polish and foreign radio stations. In 2019, his monographic album “First Command” was released by DUX.
In addition to his artistic activity, Adam Porębski also conducts scientific research and popularizing activities. He actively participated in nearly 20 national conferences and scientific sessions, giving lectures on issues of musical performance, methodology of ear training and own compositional work. He also collaborated with the Lower Silesian Science Festival, the Children’s University and the Lower Silesian Teacher Training Center.
Ordinary member of the Polish Composers’ Union, the Polish Society for Contemporary Music and the Academy of Young Scholars and Artists. Vice-president of the Global Biometrics Council association and treasurer at the Wrocław Branch of the Polish Composers’ Union.
At the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music, he conducts classes in composition, harmony, counterpoint and ear training. In the 2020-24 term, he is the deputy dean at the Faculty of Composition, Conducting, Music Theory and Music Therapy.
